    AAV Research Associate (USA)
    Research & Development

    CANbridge Pharma is an established rare disease focused biotech company founded in Shanghai in 2012. As part of our strategic growth objectives, we have established multiple collaborations with leading gene therapy companies and academic research groups in the biotech hubs of Boston and Seattle. We have been widely recognized as a leader in orphan diseases in China where the organization has grown rapidly over the last 10 years. In addition, CANbridge has an exclusive licensing agreement to commercialize Hunterase™, an enzyme replacement therapy for the treatment of Hunter syndrome, developed by GC Pharma and marketed in more than ten countries worldwide.  We are listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange under ticker 1228.HK.

    CANbridge is growing its US based team significantly and is looking to hire top talent. We are seeking a Research Associate – AAV to assist Ph.D. scientists AAV engineering, production, characterization, and tissue-tropism evaluation in vitro and in vivo. This role will be responsible for learning to utilize and master a variety of techniques including but not limited to: molecular cloning, plasmid DNA purification, PCR- and qPCR- based assays, mammalian cell culture, transfection, AAV viral preparation, purification, and characterization. S/he will also be responsible for routine lab tasks including keep track of lab reagent/consumable orders and invoices.

     

    Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

    Implementing experiments, analyzing data and presenting results to the team with minimal supervision as related to some of these areas:

    • Analysis and interpretation of data and results
    • Capable of troubleshooting
    • Skilled in molecular cloning, PCR-based assays, and qPCR.
    • Plasmid DNA purification.
    • Mammalian Cell Culture and cell-based assays.
    • DNA/RNA extraction and quantification from cells and tissues.
    • Gene expression and expression cassette design.
    • Familiarity with or experience in AAV packaging, purification, and characterization a plus.

     

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Biological Sciences with a minimum of 2 years or an MS degree with  0-2 years of relevant hands-on experience in an academic or biotechnology/pharmaceutical laboratory environment.

     

    Competencies

    • Demonstrated excellence in communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to think critically and to work collaboratively as a member of our fast-paced research team is required; and must be able to accommodate rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
    • The ideal candidate is an organized, independent, self-motivated, detail- and team-oriented researcher who can work collaboratively with other members across multiple functions including the biologics team, analytical team, and discovery team as CANbridge continues to grow.

    Scientist – AAV Gene Therapy (USA)

    CANbridge is growing its US based team significantly and is looking to hire top talent. We are seeking a Scientist– AAV Gene Therapy to join a motivated and dynamic team with fellow scientists in contributing to the development of our novel tissue specific AAV delivery platform for gene therapy in muscular dystrophy and CNS diseases. This position requires working knowledge of AAV gene therapy, molecular and cell biology, and virology

     

    Main Duties & Responsibilities include:

    • Contributing to AAV construct design, plasmid prep, transfection, AAV production, and purification to produce research-grade AAV vectors
    • Designing experiments to screen gene therapy drug candidates, execution, data analysis, and report
    • Writing SOPs and reports

     

    Qualifications

    • A Ph.D. with prior experience in AAV virology and gene therapy, molecular biology, cell biology, or related discipline required
    • Willingness to bench work
    • Extensive hands-on experience with AAV production and purification highly preferred
    • Familiar with HEK293 cells and/or baculovirus system preferred
    • Skilled in DNA cloning, mammalian cell culture, transfection, Western, ELISA, flowcytometry, qPCR and ddPCR techniques
    • Familiarity in routine analytical methods of AAV highly desirable
    • Responsible and efficient with the lab assignments

     

    Competencies

    • Ability to be highly productive in a fluid, fast-paced team environment
    • Demonstrated excellence in communication, reporting, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • Demonstrated ability to think critically in problem-solving, to work collaboratively as a member of our fast-paced research team is required; and must be able to accommodate rapidly changing priorities and deadlines, as well as multi-tasking.
